By July 2010, foreigners entering Indonesia with short stay visas will have their fingerprint scanned. They will also be photographed. This new border control management system is aimed boost security at the airports as well as seaports.

Trials have been done in certain major airports, Jakarta’s Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Yogyakarta’s Adi Sucipto, Solo’s Adi Sumarmo and Denpasar’s Ngurah Rai International Airport.
